Happy World Bee Day 20th of May

World Bee Day came about on the 20th December 2017, after three years of international efforts. UN members states unanimously approved Slovenia’s proposal to declare 20th May as world Bee day. One of the only times that there has been unanimous resolution at the UN.

The importance of bees in keeping our environment healthy and food security can’t be overstated. Bees biggest job is pollinating plants. And without them we would not be able to feed ourselves.

In Australia, there are around 1800 commercial beekeepers and 29,690 registered beekeepers.
